Head of Asset Allocation | Funds Management

This prominent New Zealand fund manager continues to evolve. A senior position internally, the Head of Asset Allocation will be at the forefront of future initiatives and investment performance over benchmarks.

As Head of Asset Allocation, you are responsible for the strategic design of our clients' diversified portfolios and their ‘total portfolio management’, including Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA), risk budgeting and any dynamic management of these settings.  You will then design and manage total portfolio exposures to best satisfy these.

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, you will be a senior member of the Investment Management Leadership Team and the Investment Committee.
  
The Role

• Provide investment insights to support the decision processes of internal portfolio management teams, other internal teams and the organisation's Board. Contribute actively to quality Investment Committee discussion and decisions.
• Using disciplined processes, dynamically manage total portfolio exposures for these funds to ensure these remain appropriate to achieving the desired investment outcomes .
• Leadership of the Investment Strategy Team to enhance and evolve appropriate models and processes to support superior Strategic and Tactical asset allocation.
• Analyse underlying asset class managers and strategy combinations, and recommend changes to improve performance.
• Presentations to internal stakeholders and external clients.

About You

• 10 + years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably leading an Asset Allocation strategy.
• Strong analytical skills and quantitative techniques in addition to top-level communication and writing skills are essential.
• Ability to form strong relationships and manage other members of the Investment Strategy team and Analysts across the firm.
• Previous exposure to strategic tilting is an advantage.
